The South Florida Ballet Theater is a non- profit arts organization located in Downtown Hollywood, Florida since 2002. The Mission of the South Florida Ballet & Musical Theater is to bring Classical Ballet training and Performances to South Florida audiences.
Beginning her Classical ballet training at the age of 8, Ms. DeChane grew in her work and eventually studied with Ballet Mistress Trudol Pinion, Michelle Leo and Irina Bretcher, winner of the Bronze Medal at the Varna Competition. She also studied with such distinguished ballet teachers as Robert Barnett, Tom Pasic, Ferdinand Nault and Michael Maule.
In 1985, while Ballet Mistress at Callenwold in Atlanta, Ms. DeChane received an Endowment for the Arts for her ballet “Once Upon a Child’s Dream.” Ms. DeChane has directed and presented over 31 full-length ballet productions including numerous Nutcracker Ballet Suites, Don Quixote, The Sleeping Beauty, Peter and The Wolf, Cinderella Ballet, La Fille Mal Gardee and The Dream and a Gala of The Great Pas de Deu’s such as Pas de Quatre, La corsair, Don Quixote and a world premier of Remember Me. Since 2002, she has been the founding Director of the South Florida Ballet Theatre and School. Bringing excellence to classical ballet for the South Florida community. Recently she was recognized by the Broward County Commissioner and the Mayor of Hollywood, Florida for her work with the ballet company as an integral part of the cultural landscape as well as a prominent partner in helping our youth grow in culture and performing arts.
